Gianni Di Marco is a visionary in cognitive and behavioral sciences, systems science, and transformative dynamics. His professional dedication in recent years has been to exploring the systemic nature of human thought and action. Based in Troistorrents, Switzerland, his career spans diverse fields including geology, business development, entrepreneurship, and professional diving, showcasing his adaptability, innovative spirit, and open-mindedness.
He holds a master's degree in Geology and Geophysics (1989) and a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences (1994) from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, as well as a CAS in Change Management and Leadership from HEC Lausanne (2021). His professional certifications encompass adaptive communication, guiding transitions towards corporate social and environmental responsibility, vertical leadership development coaching, and systemic thinking, mapping, and leadership.
Gianni describes his journey as follows: "My career has led me through various roles in multinationals, startups, and the tourism sector. Leading change has been a constant, coupled with the challenge of fostering acceptance of transformation. Encountering resistance to change led me to delve into systemic resistance at individual and collective levels. As an independent consultant, I offer systems thinking, mapping, and leadership services, as well as leadership development coaching, change facilitation, group dynamics coaching, and lecturing. I also collaborate with the Cabrera Research Lab and Professor Derek Cabrera at Cornell University, in research programs dealing with systems thinking in complex adaptive systems. My first paper, 'Common Biases in Systems Thinking', marks a significant milestone in my research career.
Driven by the urgency to build a better, sustainable future, I challenge existing systemic models of consumption, problem solving, and decision making. I advocate for a holistic approach that respects the adaptive nature of complex systems, seeking unity and harmony in our world. Spiritually, I perceive this as a transformative cycle defining our existence and evolution. Humanity is like a garden connected to Earth, where we are both the fruits and the gardeners. Our duty as gardeners is to nurture and take care of this garden, not for ourselves, as it is only lent to us temporarily, but for future generations.”
