Professor Roelien Goede is currently President of the International Society of Systemic Sciences.
Academia and career
Roelien obtained a PhD in Information Technology in 2004, focusing her thesis on Systems Thinking in Business Intelligence. She also attended the Lugano Summer School in Systems Design in 2012 and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education. In her bachelor’s degree, she majored in Business Management and Computer Science.
Roelien is currently Director of the research Unit for Data Science and Computing at the Nort-West University in South Africa. She lectures Database Optimisation and Unstructured Databases with Cloud Computing. She has a passion for teaching Computer Science, especially Programming. She has supervised 18 Master’s and 6 PhD students to completion and currently supervises another seven PhD students and two master’s students. Her research focus is on Critical Systems Thinking and she has published more than ten journal papers on critical systems thinking and the applications thereof
